Tennis Tournament for Childhood Language Center 2012 : Benefitting the Childhood Language Center, the Charleston Tennis Club hosted the 3rd Annual CLC Tennis Tournament in min-November 2012. These photos feature a few of the participants and activities from the intial Friday evening events. I hope you enjoy the photos, and thank you for helping to support the CLC! Stand Up Racing on the New River : Over 50 eager participants gathered along the New River recently to participate in the 2nd Annual "SUP" Races. SUP is Stand Up Paddleboarding, and is a cross between surfing, kayaking, cross country skiing and is nothing less than exhilarating! The New River Gorge is one of the most beautiful spots in West Virginia, and was a terrific setting for the day's activities.

Jackson General Hospital Golf Tournament 2012 : Over 20 teams of golfers came together to show support for Jackson General Hospital on Satuday, June 23, for their annual Golf Tournament. Here are a few images from the day, including several team photos! I was happy to be there and help...plus, West Virginia Fine Photography was one of the Hole Sponsors! Here are comments from Rhonda Davis, Director of the fundraising event: I want to thank everyone who did anything to help us pull off another successful golf tournament fundraiser! As the first time director of the event, I can honestly say that it would not have been possible without the help of many dedicated volunteers! Specifically, I’d like to thank all the volunteers who donated their valuable weekend time in the heat of the day to work for our cause: Debbie Casto, Janet Pancake, Jeff Tabor, Jon & Nikki Miles, Polly Hughes, Rayna O’Dell, Chris Davis, Brenda Greene, Phyllis Wood, Chris Balser, Tammy Babylon, Rhonda Lee, Tom & Molly Perry, James & Bonnie Payne, Eric Denemark, Greta Plants, Paul Fletcher of Matheny Motors, and Ron Gaskins of WV Fine Photography. The event has raised over $8,000 for our Charity Challenge Team. We were very fortunate to have 46 hole sponsorships, as well as several great corporate sponsorships from Parkersburg Cardiology, WV Fine Photography, C-98 Radio, WMOV 1360AM, Jackson Newspapers, Athletic Outfitters, JGH Retired Physicians, New York Life/Prudential Mark Caldon, Vanguard Financial Services, HealthSpring, WesBanco, Wells Fargo, Felman Production, Layne & Myers, Premier Imaging, and Frontier Communications by Mitch Carmichael! We appreciate all the donations for hole prizes, registration bag stuffers and door prizes by Jackie Denemark, Evergreen Florist, Wal-Mart, Tudors Biscuit World, Gino’s Pizza, Kroger, Columbia Gas, Chris Davis, Magical Moments Parties and Rentals, Jill Rake & Jolea Martin, Huntington National Bank, HealthNet, WesBanco, JGH, Army National Guard, Bryan Johnson of Advanced Billing Solutions, Rayna O’Dell, Amedysis Home Health, WV Power Baseball, WV Radio Corporation, Athletic Outfitters, Matheny Motors, and Wells Fargo. Also, thanks to Frank Miller of Parchment Valley Conference Center for delivering drinks donated by Dr. Pepper! The First Place Team at this year’s event consisted of Otis Casto, Boogie Manns, Jim Perry, and Dewey Taylor. Second Place was Tim Fisher, Shadow Shannon, Daryl Wade, and Ron Hudson. Third Place Team was Danney Snyder, Derek Snyder, Mike Ross, and Matt McVey. The Longest Drive was made by Dr. Brandon Cestaric (who generously donated back his cash prize), Longest Made put was Sean Banks for a pair of the Greenbrier Classic Tickets, and the Closest to the Pin was made by Bernie Eller for the other pair of Greenbrier Classic Tickets. The C-98 Team had an Eagle on Hole 5 and the D&M Lawn Care Team had an Eagle on Hole 1. There were 28 teams total playing in this year’s tournament. As usual, Everett and the Greenhills Staff did an amazing job coordinating our event and making sure that everything went as smoothly as possible~what a beautiful day at a beautiful golf course!

Habitat for Humanity- "Slam Dunk 2012" : Huntington High School was the place, March 15 was the date, and the "Slam Dunk 2012" was the event! Habitat for Humanity organized a basketball game between Team Habitat and the West Virginia Blazers to raise money for a home being built in Cabell County. With the help of many volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who attended, it was a great evening! If you're interested, you may purchase photographs from this Gallery. Jackson County Tennis Classic 2010-CASA : Welcome to the the inaugural Jackson County Tennis Classic photo gallery! The Tennis Classic, hosted by CASA, attracted over 30 players this year. I hope you enjoy viewing the photos from the various matches, and also hope you get to feel the action and energy generated by the players. I have all the photos posted now, so if you see something you like, you can click on the "buy" button above the large photo. The watermarked business name will not appear in ordered prints. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in an inappropriate group or foster home. They stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence—the one adult who cares only for them.
