Boy Scouts of America Awards Banquet
The Boy Scouts of America, Allohak Council, hosted their annual Blue and Gold Banquet with a record crowd at the Jackson County Armory in late April 2014. The Scouts recognized the work of community volunteers, and also enjoyed special speakers Coach Don Nehlen and Coach Bob Pruitt, courtesy of the "Friends of Coal." Mike Ruben, the "Voice of the Vikings," was recognized with the Jackson County Distinguished Service Award.
Mark Martin, sportscaster for WCHS-TV in Charleston, served as master of ceremony of the event. The Banquet also functions as a fundraiser for the Allohak Council of the Boy Scouts of America, which serves young boys in 13 counties in West Virginia and Ohio.
