Race For The Cure - Susan G. Komen WV
On May 3, 2014, volunteers, runners, walkers, Rollergirls, Batman, and many more converged on the Capitol Complex in Charleston, WV, for the Susan G. Komen (WV) Race for the Cure!
RACE DAY May 3th 2014.
From Sponsors to Donors and of course Race Participants you make each year full of record breaking numbers. You come out at 7:00am to visit our tents and listen to music, presentation of the US Flag, and sample some goodies. Some of you even stay home as 'virtual participants' as "Sleep In" supporters.
You are there when the gun goes off at 9:00am sending the competitive runners down the boulevard. You are there as the walkers follow the course with couples, children, strollers, and teams of matching tees make their way with signs and cheers. You are there for the Kids Zone and children's dash. You are the Survivors that line up on the Capitol Steps for an annual picture this year at 10:30 am.
You are there for the presentations and awards that follow the event at 10:30am. Proof positive it takes YOU to make an IMPACT and SAVE LIVES in WV. We have grown to 7000 + people on the Capitol Grounds. We fund West Virginia screening, treatment and awareness programs from the donations raised by this event. Each year more Survivors are honored and celebrated on site as the Walking Billboard of Hope that they are. Competitive runners come out in a huge show of support with over 800 competitive runners . Donations come in from all over the US and participants last year came from 17 states to make this a wonderful success.
