Your Photographer
Summer 2013 was busy, and started with high school graduations, and never stopped. I visited the Vandalia Gathering at the State Capitol, and traveled to Canaan Valley for a photography trip with the Charleston Camera Club. The big event here in West Virginia this Summer was our 150th Birthday, the Sesquicentennial! Along with all the activities at the Capitol, and around the state, I was able to visit the one and only operational lighthouse. At the “First Light” event, the Summersville Lake Lighthouse was officially lit on West Virginia Day, and my photos are here on the website. I also photographed the St. Albans Riverfest and the Ripley Independence Day Celebrations, and visited Lewisburg with the Professional Photographers of West Virginia.
As we begin to notice the cooler mornings, we also are looking ahead to activities for the Fall. In September, along with my friend and colleague Amanda Haddox, I will return to the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park in Prestonsburg, KY. There, we will join our friend Trinity Shepherd, the Park Naturalist, and lead the Fall Photography Workshop. This will be our third Workshop at the Park, and both our participants and the Park management have been pleased with the results.
Following the Workshop, I already have a business conference scheduled for later in September, and am working on plans for a special project in cooperation with the Create West Virginia organization, as they develop their Conference in Richwood this October.
In February, I accepted a position with West Virginia 811, the "Call Before You Dig" organization. I will be responsible for various staff duties, including marketing/public relations, government relations, and safety training for utility workers and excavator/contractors. While my hours dedicated to West Virginia Fine Photography will be reduced, I will be maintaining the business. I look forward to continuing my working relationship with many of my commercial clients, and will also look forward to serving new customers.
While I have worked with several worthwhile charities and non-profit organizations, I am not in business to give away my work. If you intend to request free photographs, please visit this page: http://photoprofessionals.wordpress.com/
