Hocking Hills State Parks, OH - 2016
Known as Ohio’s “Natural Crown Jewels,” the parks of Hocking Hills introduce visitors to a wet and wild landscape that includes amazing views, prehistoric caves, waterfalls and trails. Hocking Hills State Park Region features six distinct sites: Hocking Hills SP, Cedar Falls, Lake Logan SP, Old Man’s Cave, and Rock House. Among these, we will explore their high cliffs, rushing waterfalls, and deep gorges! When you think of Ohio, the rock and waterfall-filled maze of Hocking Hills probably doesn’t come to mind. This is not the typical level landscapes of the Buckeye State, but brings to mind a mix of scenes from around the country.
Ron and Amanda will lead you to the best venues of the Parks, the popular ones as well as some of the lesser known locations. As part of our Workshop, we will explore Lake Logan for birds and other wildlife; Ash Cave’s enormous 700 foot horseshoe-shaped rim and waterfall; Cedar Falls with its 50 foot plunge; Old Man’s Cave, featuring rock formations with their own unique names…Whale in the Wall, Sphinx Head, Eagle Rock, and the Devil’s Bathtub! We’ll walk paths, climb stone stairways, pass through tunnels, and otherwise explore the area in search of special views for you and our other Workshoppers, as you learn more about your camera and how you can capture what you see.
